Installing cement cultured stone on an exterior wall requires proper preparation, quality materials, and correct installation techniques to ensure long-term durability and visual appeal.

The first step is surface preparation. The wall surface must be clean, dry, and structurally stable. Concrete and masonry walls can usually receive cultured stone directly, while wood-frame structures typically require a moisture barrier and metal lath system.

Next, a scratch coat of mortar is applied over the metal lath to create a strong bonding surface. Once the scratch coat cures, installers begin applying stone adhesive mortar to the back of each cultured stone piece.

Installation generally starts from corners and lower sections of the wall, gradually working upward. Stones should be mixed from different boxes to create natural color variation and avoid repetitive patterns.

After placement, mortar joints may be filled using a grout bag depending on the desired design style. Final cleaning completes the installation process.

Proper installation helps cement cultured stone maintain excellent weather resistance and long-term performance.
